Reader Ethos

We are free thinkers here, so be a free thinker

The articles submitted to We Were Unpublished are reviewed by informed readers, but don’t get this confused with rigorous peer review. When consuming any information published anywhere, we suggest you always judge for yourself what you think with a critical eye.

We are not here to police the research; we are here to share what has been done to help evolve thinking and future work. We want you to be able to see what is out there, being done by a variety of people, in a variety of contexts, but at the end of the day, you always have the autonomy to decide what you make of it. We recommend you exercise that autonomy.

If something you read grates on you, excites you, confuses you... good! That is what we can only hope for.

With that said, we value big ideas and bold questions. What we don’t value or accept is disrespect. Keep it curious, keep it constructive, and keep it human.

More than anything else, enjoy.

Enjoy reading ideas and findings from different people.

Enjoy the diversity of types of work on our platform.

Enjoy being free!
